SunContract provides community self-sufficieny

In recent months a lot of new and interesting things have been going on at SunContract. In this article, we will highlight a few of the most memorable moments of the past few months and give you a sneak peek into what is about to come.

The first 100% electricity self-sufficient village in Slovenia

In August 2021 the SONCE Energija company, which is the official partner of SunContract in Slovenia, presented the first 100 % electricity self-sufficient village Zavrate, which is located near the Slovene town of Radeče. This was the first step towards self-sufficient and climate-neutral communities in Slovenia.

Furthermore, we launched the first self-sufficient city center in Radeče. This project has also been saved the municipality the money to renovate the roof of the health center, which is also an advantage of such cooperation.  In addition, it also enables the citizens of the city center to become self-sufficient, even if they live in blocks of flats or do not have the option of installing solar power plants on their roof. It enables them to be resistant to the increase in the price of electricity on the market, which is now being recorded all over the world, as citizens can invest the necessary part of a solar power plant in it or combine it with rent. The whole town is also supported by the SunContract energy marketplace which enables people of Radeče to link up to basic Blockchain technology and use its technological benefits.

Recognitions and prizes

In the same week, the SunContract platform was selected as the winner of this year’s energy award in the category best renewable source energy promotional project. The selection is traditionally organized for the 23rd time in a row by the newspaper Finance. Gregor Novak received the flattering award at the ceremony which was a part of the Energy Days conference, held in Portorož, Slovenia. “We are very grateful for this award and for the commission to recognizes the huge potential the SunContract holds,” was thankful Gregor Novak, CEO of SunContract.

Another big recognition came from Valuer Magazines article which listed SunContract as one of Europes Best Green Startups. We are very glad to be contributing to a greener and cleaner Europe and also help the energy sector in its technological development.

SONCE Energija also managed to partner up with Urška Žolnir, who is professional Slovenian judoka who won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. SONCE installed a solar power plant on Urška Žolnirs estate and she also joined the SunContract energy marketplace. She is very satisfied customer and beneficially promotes the SunContract platform and helps raise awareness about renewable energy and a more self-sufficient energy lifestyle.
